London FA are proud to announce that the winner of New Volunteer of the Year, sponsored by HCR Law, for the 2024 Grassroots Heroes Awards is Aaron Heaven!

Aaron is a young volunteer who supports the Waltham Forest Community Hub football programme every Friday evening at Sailsbury Hall, engaging 100 disadvantaged young people aged 10-19 years-old through football coaching, even going above and beyond as one of the teams experienced first aiders.

Aaron himself would admit he was a disadvantaged young person who was once very disruptive and now recognises that, if it wasn’t for people giving him time and support, he would have been on a very different path to the one he is on now. Aaron now gives back to the community to support young people by giving his time to the football programme. 

Aaron is not only a great volunteer but also an amazing role model for the young people that attend the football programme. When young people arrive, the head straight toward Aaron to see what he has done and visa-versa. Through his consistency and presence on a weekly basis, more and more young people aged 10-15 utilise the support at the hub. 

It is Aaron's consistency and the time he gives to young people in the space of two hours is outstanding. His energy is infectious and his ability to engage people is what makes him a fantastic volunteer.
