Vacancy - Football Safeguarding Case Officer

London FA is recruiting a Football Safeguarding Case Officer to support the delivery of the FA National Game and London FA’s Safeguarding Strategy, manage safeguarding and welfare investigations, challenge poor behaviours, promote best practice, and upskill the capital's volunteer workforce.

Headline details:

  • Football Safeguarding Case Officer
  • Salary c.£26,000
  • Hybrid working arrangements (minimum of one day per week currently a Wednesday at London FA’s office– Wembley Stadium).

Job purpose:

  • To support the delivery of the FA National Game Strategy and London Football Associations Safeguarding Strategy.
  • To manage, in collaboration with the Football Safeguarding and Welfare Manager, poor practice, low-level and safeguarding concerns in a timely manner in line with FA requirements and guidance.
  • To support with key FA and London Football Association initiatives and promotions relating to safeguarding.
  • To contribute to the upskilling of London Football Association’s volunteer network.
  • Maintain accurate records of investigations and interventions to address and improve behaviour across the London FA volunteer network.
  • Take a leading role in the implementation, adherence, and management of The FA’s Safeguarding Operating Standard (SOS) for County FAs.
  • Take a leading role in the completion of Safeguarding Validation Visits, motivating a team to reach strict deadlines in a timely and effective fashion.
  • Promote and uphold the values of safer practices across grassroots football in London.
  • To provide excellent support and services to stakeholders of London Football Association across the business’s needs.

Experience and Skills:

  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant safeguarding legislation, policy and practice relating to children and adults at risk, particularly within sport.
  • Ability to deal with highly emotive situations and conversations, using facts to inform and communicate decisions and outcomes.
  • Demonstrable experience in presenting to a wide range of audiences and demographics.
  • Experience liaising with key safeguarding agencies (e.g., LADO, Police, MASH, etc).
  • Confident in effective record keeping, documenting progress within investigations.
  • Ability to compile case-related evidence and information into clear written documents/communications.
  • Knowledge of London FA and The FA’s Safeguarding Structure and partner organisations.
  • Excellent team working skills and capability to build effective relationships.
  • Ability to read, digest and assimilate information quickly and effectively.
  • Demonstrates a working understanding of inclusion, equality, anti- discrimination and safeguarding best practice.
  • Project management skills and experience – to plan, set and achieve objectives within strict deadlines.
  • Good administrative, secretarial and IT skills (inc. MS Office Suite).
