London FA team up with UCFB to deliver Game Changers

The Game Changers programme will help clubs recruit student volunteers in a move that benefits all involved.

London FA are excited to continue our exclusive partnership with University Campus of Football Business (UCFB) to deliver Game Changers. This programme will be most beneficial to clubs looking to grow or sustain their accreditation status and continue thriving.

UCFB Wembley students are studying football specific undergraduate and post graduate courses and possess the desire to be part of footballs workforce. They benefit from being taught and mentored by industry experts and leaders. To aid their learning & development, UCFB & London FA have partnered to provide volunteering opportunities at grassroots Clubs & Leagues so that students may gain hands-on, valuable, and meaningful experience to support them to achieve their personal and professional aspirations.

Through this programme, we will be placing UCFB students on a placement at a grassroots club or league for a total of six-months (Between January 2025 – June 2025). These students will be committing to supporting your club or league in your England Football Accredited development plans through a relevant off-the-pitch role that you assign. The students will have the opportunity to implement their learnings from their educational curriculum and practically deliver these in a real-life setting. Students will enable clubs or leagues to achieve their strategic or operational targets in a relevant and supportive environment.

This programme is delivered as part of the London FA’s Volunteering Game Plan and commitment to ensuring a ‘transformed volunteer experience’.

Nayim Ahmed, Volunteering Development Officer at London FA, said: “From this programme I would like to see Clubs & Leagues really focusing on their people planning to create an environment for volunteers to thrive. This will increase the likelihood of grassroots organisations achieving their plans for growth and beyond. This specific volunteer group are looking for opportunities to increase their likelihood of employment and professional development journey. I would encourage clubs and leagues to be innovative and supportive to really get the most out of this 6-month placement. Consider off-the-pitch roles as well as on-the-pitch as the unique skill set possessed by the students are hugely beneficial to any organisation if supported in the right way.”

UCFB Work Placements Manager, Oli Moore, added: “The Game Changers programme creates opportunities for our students to gain invaluable experience, whilst having a huge impact on football at the grassroots level. The purpose of the partnership is to make the matching process of club and volunteer as easy as possible and to ensure a focal point of mutually beneficial outcomes throughout the programme.”
